NORML Conference 2020

NORML, American’s leading marijuana reform organization, is hosting its annual conference on October 22 and 23 from 12-5PM EDT as a virtual streaming event.

The NORML 2020 Conference promises to be two action-packed days featuring panel debates, expert speakers and empowered attendees discussing the most pressing cannabis legalization issues of the moment. And you can be part of it by registering for Day 1 here and Day 2 here.

Day 1

Day 1 of the conference opens with an update from Justin Strekal, NORML Executive Director, on the prospects of federal cannabis reform. After a short break, there will then be a debate on marijuana descheduling and rescheduling. What does each approach mean and which is preferable?

Later in the afternoon, there will be a panel discussion on ‘The Future of Advocacy’ with NORML’s founder, Keith Stroup, and NORML’s Development Director, Jean Michelle Pedini. Day 1 ends with NORML’s Activist Awards, a ceremony to recognize the outstanding contributions of committed marijuana reform advocates.

Day 2

The second day of the NORML 2020 Conference kicks off with a ‘State of States’ roundtable event. Representatives from Smart and Safe Arizona, NJ CAN 2020, South Dakotans for Better Marijuana Laws, New Approach South Dakota and New Approach Montana will discuss the prospects of marijuana legalization through ballot initiatives in those states.

After that, marijuana reform advocates from Maryland, Texas and Wisconsin NORML chapters will host a workshop titled ‘Effective Organizing’ to furnish the next generation of activists with the necessary skills to push for change. The last discussion of the day is on ‘Allyship in Activism’ with NORML organizers from Alabama, Chicago, Virginia, Wisconsin and New Jersey.

This year’s conference ends with the presentation of the Michael J Kennedy Social Justice Award – so named after the formidable civil rights and criminal defense attorney – which is now in its fourth year.

Green Flower Media, a leading marijuana education and training company, is partnering with NORML to bring the conference to a virtual audience.

If you want to take your marijuana reform advocacy to the next level or if you just want to stay informed of the latest developments, then register for Day 1 here and Day 2 here. Registration is arranged on a pay-what-you-can basis.
